Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will launch an unlimited wireline broadband plan on a promotional basis that counters Reliance Jio in data rates as low as Rs. 1 per GB if subscribers use up to 300 GB data per month. Whereas Jio announced that it will offer 1 GB data for Rs. 50. By this initiative of BSNL, they are looking to hook more customers into its wireline broadband services.

The plan will enhance the customer experience towards wireline broadband services and attract new users to experience BSNL broadband services, the corporation’s chairman cum managing director Anupam Shrivastava said in a statement.

“BSNL is going to launch a very cost-effective and affordable promotional unlimited Broadband plan ‘Experience Unlimited BB 249’ from September 9, 2016,” the telecom PSU said in a statement.

According to the statement, the Rs. 249 plan users can download at 2 Mbps speed throughout the month without worrying about data limits. Truly unlimited access at 2 Mbps at just Rs. 249 only per month.

BSNL said that if customers use the plan continuously in a month, they can download up to 300 GB data by paying Rs 249. This offer is only applicable for new customers only and the connection speed will be 2 Mbps till 1 GB usage and speed will be reduced to 1 Mbps after 1 GB usage. Also Rs. 249 is charged only for six months and after six months the same plan will be converted to BBG Combo ULD 499.

We think this may not cut Jio subscribers but can surely attract some customers to BSNL.
