Google Pixel and Pixel XL launched: Price, Specifications and More

Google Pixel and Google Pixel was launched at an event in San Francisco. The smartphones have been engineered and tested by search giant Google itself. Nexus lineup has been ended by the search giant on the launch of Pixel smartphones.

Google made the competition more tougher with the launch of Pixel smartphones, launching the Pixel at Rs 57,000 for the India market with pre-order beginning October 13, and sales by month end. Interestingly India is in the list of first six markets where the device will be available at the start.

Google Pixel (128GB)- Rs. 66,000

Google Pixel XL (32GB)- Rs. 67,000

Google Pixel XL (128GB)- Rs. 76,000

In terms of specifications, here’s the list: Pixel has a 5-inch full HD AMOLED display, XL has a bigger 5.5-inch display with Quad HD resolution. Both phones come with latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.15 (two cores) and 2.16 Ghz (two cores) along with 4GB RAM, 32GB or 128GB storage options. The camera on the back is 12 MP with f/2.0 aperture and a larger 1.5 micron size, while the camera on the front is 8 MP.

For connectivity, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones support Single-SIM, 4G LTE, Google Cast, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and USB 3.1 Type-C port. Thankfully, Google decided to keep the good old 3.5 mm headphone jack.

On the battery front, the Pixel has a 2770 battery, Pixel XL has a 3450 mAh battery, and both phones support Quick Charge technology. Google is promising 7 hours of battery life with just fifteen minutes of charging. The port is Type-C USB, and yes the headphone jack is still alive on these phones.

Pixel has been designed by Google to make it easy to grip. The device features a fingerprint sensor. Both the front and back glass are Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection against scratches. The phones come in three colours: Black, Silver and Blue. The Blue colour is a limited edition and won’t be coming to India initially.

Google Assistant will be the focal point of this phone, and the search giant plans to allow developers to make use of this as well. Soon ordering an Uber via Google Assistant will be possible. Of course, Siri can already do that for you.

24/7 support will be provided to Pixel smartphones, where users can share their screen with customer care representative so that exact problem can be identified. The Support feature will be live in India too, Pixel users will get a toll-free phone support accompanied by 54 walk-in service centres in over 30 cities.
