Google said that it has updated the Search feature on its Android phones and now Indian users will be able to order food or book tables through it.

“From today, when people search for a nearby restaurant on their phone, they’ll see an option to Place an order in the search results. Just tap that and choose your favourite delivery service like Zomato or Swiggy and you’ll be taken to their website to complete the order,” a Google spokesperson said.

This functionality to book tables will be managed through Dineout and Bytplus. “Now when you want to go out to a restaurant but don’t want to wait for a table, you can book ahead of time with Google Search by clicking on a partner’s link and you’ll be taken to their site to make your reservation,” said the spokesperson.

The feature is also aimed at building up Google’s Search, which is no longer used place for a lot of commercial services like ordering of food or booking of cabs. Instead, users directly go to the particular apps and book and register for services. But by integrating the apps and services directly within the Search, Google must be hoping to put its search engine in the centre of the user experience.

Suppose you are searching for a food in your current location (suppose Gurgaon) and as you know it is available in another city (suppose Pune), by this functionality users get results within the search and they can directly order from the search results itself without visiting the particular app or website.

Some websites previously just redirects users to their app and users will have to download those app to avail services and sometimes it generated storage and hassle to customers. But with this users no longer need to download those apps as they can now directly order or book something through search itself.
